Chongqing High-Tech Industrial Development Zone signed a cooperation agreement with Peking University to build Peking University Chongqing Big Data Research Institute in Western (Chongqing) Science City at the 2020 Chongqing Talents Conference on November 21.

As a high-end research and development institution, Peking University Chongqing Big Data Research Institute will pool and cultivate scientific and technological innovation professionals, and carry out cutting-edge innovation research in Western (Chongqing) Science City.

Specifically, it focuses on overcoming core scientific and technological problems and promoting innovative applications in big data and digital transformation. It will also accelerate the transformation of basic research achievements in cutting-edge technologies into experimental development innovation and application innovation, incubate tech companies, and promote industrial digitization and digital industrialization.

The Institute strives to build itself into a leading talent gathering platform, a cutting-edge research institute, and a transformation platform with international influence.

Furthermore, through cooperating with Chongqing’s universities and institutes in research projects and talent training, the Institute aims to make efforts to build a slew of national and municipal key labs and tech innovation centers.

Since the beginning of this year, Western (Chongqing) Science City has accelerated its development to pool scientific establishments, universities, research institutes, and other innovative resources to continuously improve its research concentration and competitiveness.

By the end of October, Western (Chongqing) Science City has signed contracts with universities and research institutes involving more than 20 projects covering major scientific and technological infrastructure, high-end R&D platform, and research achievement, with an investment exceeding 20 billion yuan in total.
